They are on sale at Cabelas for $150, (normally $239).
I've never owned a Quantum reel but this one looks like a "boo-yah" buy!
Opinions?
If so, what size should I get?
Thanks guys.
Oh, well....(sigh).....the "Boss" says," Didn't you just spend WAY MORE than that on those other reels you just bought a while back?!!!"
She's right.....I don't "really" need it........but it's ON SALE!!!!
(lol)
I'd have to sell more than an Ugly Stik & a Penn SSG to get out of the doghouse if I decide to get it.........(lol)
(I wonder???........if Rover sleeps in the front portion by the door, maybe I could have the other 2 feet in back.....LOL)
Thanks for all the answer's. It's tough to pick best answer so I'm gonna go with the Thumbs. Thanks again guys!

Hmm Fisher_King needing advice on a reel?
My advice is that if its on sale go for it! you cant have too many reels, and as for which size to buy-well what will you be fishing for?
They do look good reels, i admit that i don’t have one, but have seen the offer at Cabelas and seriously thought about it! However having also seen the offers on Fly Gear went with some of those instead!
Like Airflow said its on sale so go for it.
I have never owned the Tour Edition PTi-A, but I do own a couple Quantum Cabo PT’s and I love them. Sturdy frame, real smooth, and even after the abuse I tend to put some of my reels through there is still no backplay whatsoever.
As far as size goes that’s up to you and what you plan on doing with it.
Never owned a Quantrum either but, this one looks like a good reel. Plus, it has 12 PT hybrid polymer stainless steel bearings, that’s a lot of bearings. But, bearings don’t make a reel good, the dependability, and ability to hall in fish the size that it was made for. I don’t know what species your fishing for, but say if you are fishing for bass, I would get the TE40PTIAS version. The one that holds 10 lb. line, and 230 yards of it. If it’s a deal, get it! Like said before, you can’t have enough reels =)
I agree with Airflow, “Fisher King needing advice on a reel?” haha …
YES! These are excellent reels. I bought a Quantum Tour Edition PT open-face reel last year on sale for the same price as yours and it is my favorite reel. I have about 5 or 6 reels in the $100 – $150 price range and this one puts all of them to shame. I would go with the TE30PTiB if I were you. Quantum makes very quality products and I think you will be very satisfied with this reel. Just an fyi, the “PT” stands for performance tuned, so the reels are already lubed with Quantum’s signature “hot sauce”. Supposedly, you will never need to oil or lube this reel, only clean it when it’s dirty. Mine hasn’t required any maintenance yet, and I’ve used it quite a bit. Nice find.
Hey man. I know what your going through with picking out a new reel. Personally I would buy that in a heart beat. But just take this as an opinion.I would go with the TE40PTIAS model because it’s heavy and most likely can take a beating if you fish like me. It also has a larger line capacity so a fish of a life-time won’t run off on you. But I’m only 14 years old, so what do I know about such a “B A” reel.
Hope I helped.
I cant say , but if you are married you might want to either ask her or make sure she doesnt find out
http://www.mnlakeplace.com we do alot of fishing I recommend waiting it will go on sale..Then buy great set.
I have a few Quantum Reels and love them. All mine are baitcasting reels but some of my buddys (guides and tournament fishers) love Quantum spinning reels. Im not sure what you will be fishing for but I would go w/ a size 3000 or at most 4000. let us know what you decide
You will be very happy with your new Quantum PTi-A spinning reel. I was on the Quantum pro-staff for a number of years (not now) and have used many of their products.
The PTi-A has many great features, including a super smooth retrieve and a great drag system. You will love it (sounds like a great price too!)
As far as which size to use, that would depend on how & what you are fishing for. If you are going to be fishing shallow water & working jigs & crank baits, and your line preference is 8 lb. test line, a perfect size would be the TE20PTIAS. This would accommodate enough line – it’s not bulky & it’s not as heavy, making it perfect for all day casting/jigging.
If you are going to be fishing deeper water, or trolling, then you would want to go at least one size up to TE30PTIAS. This will hold more line, is a bit bigger, but still is o.k. for casting/jigging.
If your main purpose is to troll, then go with the TE30PTIAS size. It’s a larger/bulkier reel, but since you are not casting all day (i.e. if you are trolling,. your rod will most likely be in a holder) the size will not be a fatigue factor. In fact, you will want the larger spool size to be able to accommodate more line capacity for trolling.
Good luck & good fishing!
You know you won’t be happy unless you do.
So…….be true to yourself and go for it !!!
Size ? Whatever you fish for the most, and what technique fits it.
This way, you’ll be able to fish it quite abit and give it an honest
assessment.
You may have to sell your Ugly Stik and Penn reel to pay for it, though (LOL)
