Line guide being that eye that moves back and forth upon retrieval....Is this normal?

No it’s not normal. If I were you I’d personally take it back where you bought it either at store or online. A loose eye will turn to a broken eye with a big fish on. Good luck fishin’ and with your broken pole!
Ac little play in it is normal but not too much. does it still go back and forth when you reel?
There should be a’ slight bit of play in it. As long as it traverses from side ta’ side and doesn’t bind then ya’ should be alright. If the play is so obvious, think I’d return it to the place of purchase. If ordered Online then that’s a different thing meanin’ that you’ll have ta’ ship it back and then wait on the new one

you’re kidding about this question, right? it’s going back and forth? like its supposed to? just get a pair of pliers and clamp it good and tight so it will no longer go back and forth.
oh!… l gotta mention. once you do this, the handle will no longer turn either.
but then, if you just tie the string on the end of the pole, you won’t even need that defective piece of whateveritis.
