Pictured here is my very good friend Stacy Corbin.  He is holding a sensational Rooster Fish.  Stacy has been after a Rooster Fish of this size for a long time.  I am pleased to have been a part of this truly special day.

Hi folks,

It has been a great week here in Baja.  We had some great fishing late last week with some very good fishing from the beach.  As you can see from the photo above, I fished with my good friend Stacy Corbin from Alaska and we were successful in getting Stacy a big Rooster fish from the beach.  Earlier that day, I had clients out on a half day trip where I found some fish and I had a good feeling.  We had a great shot at a school of fish and one of my clients hooked (but had some bad luck) and broke off a fish in the thirty pound range.  My clients did not get any more shots as we had to leave and get them back to the hotel to meet the rest of their party and off to the airport.  I knew Stacy would be waiting for me at the hotel and we headed right back out to the spot where I found the fish earlier that morning.  Stacy and I were not on the beach fifteen minutes when we encounterd a school of Rooster fish.  The photo above is the results.  It was a great afternoon.

Since then we have had a few days of strong winds from the North.  That shut the beach fishing down but did not keep Jeff Solis and his group from getting out and chasing Marlin.  Jeff was able to find four Marlin last Saturday that were willing to take the fly.  The seas have calmed down since then and we are back to flat and beautiful conditions.  Problem is, no one seems to know where the fish went.  The past two days have been a little slow with a few Dorado and a few Pargo taking center stage.  This is typical during the spring here in Baja.  We have great seas and great fishing for a few days and then we receive some wind and that scatters the bait as well as the fish.  Over the next day or so  the fishing should pick up as it is forecast to be flat, calm and gorgeous for the next several days.  We will be out on the water every day this week.  We will be sure to report what we find.
